This is what I did tonight instead of watching "Lost". I guess the decent thing to do would have been to paint a smoke monster or a polar bear in it somewhere. After becoming extremely frustrated by still life's from last night I decided to focus on landscape studies. This should be the first of many to come.

After two weeks of painting small one night paintings, I started my first larger painting. It is liberating to paint at this scale again. This is also the first time in two weeks that I have used photo reference instead of painting from pure observation. As you can see I am still in the early stages of this painting. I will keep you updated on my progress.
